Counsellor – PEACE program
(Prevention, Education, Advocacy, Counselling and Empowerment)
18.5 hours per week
As the PEACE Counsellor, you will provide comprehensive evidence-based services for children and youth under the age of 19, and their parents and caregivers, residing in Kaslo and the surrounding area. You will work closely with members of the counselling team, referring agencies and community partners. Clinical supervision will be provided.
Preferred Education and Work Experience:
• Post-secondary education in Social Work, Psychology, Youth and Childcare, Counselling or a comparable combination of education and experience.
• Experience in working with complex family dynamics
• Experience in working with families who have experienced domestic violence
• A client centred approach
• Therapeutic experience including expressive therapy is desired.
• Knowledge of and skills in feminist counselling, psycho-educational support services and counselling supervision practices.
• Experience in counselling and/or supporting children and youth who have experienced violence and their parents who have also experienced violence.
