Kaslo & Up the Lake Youth Network (KULYN)
KULYN initially started as a community initiative set up to identify the gaps and issues faced by youth living in Kaslo and up the lake area. The main goal was to hire a Youth Coordinator to respond to the overall needs identified by youth and community. This eventually developed into a broader youth network funded by the Columbia Basin Trust and referred to as The Basin Youth Network, which consists of 27 youth networks rooted in the Columbia Basin region.
Our main priority is to ensure the community of Kaslo maintains a youth specific space for youth to drop in and access programs, activities, services, and resources.
We offer leadership and employment skill-building workshops through our partnership with JV Humphries High School.
We collaborate with the Kaslo District Public Library & Columbia Basin Alliance for Literacy, Lardeau Valley Community Center, and The Kaslo Youth Center to offer diversified and inclusive programs for youth.
We strive to create an accepting and supportive atmosphere toward diversity, and we are 2SLGBTIQ+ friendly.
What We Are Looking Forward to This Year!
KULYN is in the process of developing policy and procedures to enable outdoor activities. Basically, we’re looking forward to hiking and camping trips for the summer of 2024. Stay tuned!
