Rate: $30/hour, 14 hours/week
Contract Duration: October 2024 – August 30, 2025 (with potential for renewal)
Job Summary:
The Food Hub Outreach Support Worker will be a vital part of our food bank’s mission, offering personalized support to clients beyond food distribution. This role includes helping clients connect with resources, developing life skills, and building a path toward self-reliance and economic independence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Client Engagement: Build relationships with clients to understand their challenges and provide one-on-one support.
- Resource Connection: Link clients with community resources, social services, and training programs.
- Life Skills Development: Organize or facilitate workshops on topics such as financial literacy, job readiness, and personal development.
- Program Development: Assist in the creation of outreach programs, evaluate effectiveness, and refine strategies.
- Data Management: Maintain accurate records of client interactions and program outcomes, and prepare reports.
- Collaboration: Work closely with supervisory staff and community partners to ensure coordinated client support.
- Food Cupboard Service Delivery: Provide a weekly mobile food service to remote clients.
Supervision:
The role reports to the Executive Director (Food Security) and the Food Cupboard Coordinator.
Required Experience & Skills:
- Minimum 2 years in social services, community outreach, or similar field.
- Experience in food bank services is a plus.
- Driver’s Licence is required.
Additional Assets:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to offer compassionate, tailored support to diverse populations.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Familiarity with community resources and social services.
- Knowledge of Food Safe food handling principles is an asset.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Flexibility for various tasks related to food service delivery.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
